Congratulations to Alan Preti- 2022 Distinguished Service Recipient

The SEAC  Distinguished Service Award 2022 award recognize persons who have distinguished themselves as members of SEAC.

Alan Preti joined SEAC in 2011. From 2014-2017 he served as a member of the Executive Committee and in 2017 I was elected Secretary-Treasurer. He has served as co-director for four SEAC conferences since 2015, and has presented regularly at the annual conference since he first joined. Several of his presentation papers were subsequently published in various journals, and he has contributed invited chapters to three books edited by SEAC members.

As Secretary-Treasurer he has maintained the budget, overseeing and documenting incoming monies, expenses, and investments. He corresponds with members, communicating information about conferences, elections, and other matters. He is also responsible for overseeing the election process, documenting EC meeting minutes, communicating with the website host concerning technical updates, and addressing other matters as they arise.

Alan is currently Associate Professor of Philosophy at Rosemont College, where he served as Director of the Institute for Ethical Leadership and Social Responsibility from 2011-2021. His research interests include theoretical and applied ethics, moral psychology, and moral development. He has published in the International Journal of Ethics and Philosophy East and West, and has contributed chapters to Developing Moral Sensitivity (Routledge, 2015), Handbook of Virtue Ethics in Business and Management (Springer, 2017), Ethics Across the Curriculum – Pedagogical Perspectives (Springer, 2018), and Teaching Ethics – Instructional Models, Methods and Modalities for University Studies (Rowman and Littlefield, 2021).
